KNUE Movies

Over the years, the instructors at KNUE have created short movies to show to trainees after their skit performances.  I've included links to some of them here.  If you're the type of person who enjoys B-movie weirdness, check it out.  And I make no apologies for wearing a horse mask in Loser Rap Stars.  I had a vision.

 Loser Rap Stars
Colin, August, Reggie and I tried to make a coherent movie about 3 homeless weirdos who are transformed into Hip Hop royalty.  This video accomplishes one thing: destroying any hopes of a career in politics for all involved.

The Language of Terror
Malcolm directs and produces this slasher movie.  I think the script was written by Nicole.  Some quality acting in this one, a real star vehicle.

Team Spirit
Malcolm directing again.  Probably my favorite of the movies we've worked on.  This really captures the petty rivalries and infighting that happen on a day to day basis at KNUE.  I keed, I keed.

Shaving Teacher Brian
This one is especially gonzo.  Brian absolutely nails his role as an English instructor turned Al Qaeda operative.  And the whole "Fart Blocker" scene, not my idea.

Jisan Music Festival

Korea just went up a couple of notches on the international music scene this summer.  Just a week after Sensation the Jisan Music Festival happened in a big way.  Clark and I went to check it out.  3 days of bleary eyed mayhem.  Of course, Radiohead was there on opening night, but I didn't take any video because the show was too intense and I didn't even think to take out my Ipod.  We watched the show from the Rock of Gibraltar up in the forest (security kept bothering us but eventually gave up).  Great view!  On Saturday, we got to check out Nell and Idiotape.

Idiotape.  Electronic music with a live drummer.  These guys know how to get a crowd going.  Hope they can break out of Korea and get some international attention.  Also, it was during this show that Clark transformed into...The Midnite Cowboy!
 

Nell.  They put on a tight show, but they only played for 50 minutes.  Would have liked to see more...  By the way, a girl dressed like a reject from the Beastie Boys Sabotage video stumbles by at the end of the video, fake mustache and all!

The Stone Roses.  This all happened on Sunday night.  The Midnite Cowboy was completely riveted by these guys, but I didn't know their music very well.  Should have done my homework.  Great performance from the Monkey Man, who according to the Midnite Cowboy, knows everything there is to know. 

Wish I had taken more video and pics, but you know, it's always better to experience things in the moment.  Also, I wish I hadn't lost my damn cell phone...

King Buzzo: Precious Memories

 King Buzzo from the Melvins talks about his first time touring.  Have been listening to these guys since high school: original ideas and an offbeat sense of humour shine through in their music.  Anyway, this video brings back memories of shows I've played in the past (especially the 4 people watching bit at the end).  Good times...

Sensation - Ocean of White

The fabulous Sensation all nite dance extravaganza came to Kintex in Seoul, and we were there with the pictures and the video.  And the hangovers the next morning as I type this.  The line ups were long, the drinks were too expensive, but overall the DJs were tight and the energy was definitely in the building.  I wish I could have gotten some video of some of the more ridiculous dancing (one dude was dressed as a cupid with full bow and arrow).
